[Important Notice] Apology and Notification Regarding Potential Personal Information Leakage Due to Unauthorized Access to the Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi's Reservation Management System

We regret to inform you that an unauthorized third party gained access to the unified reservation management system (hereinafter referred to as the "Management System") used by Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi (hereinafter referred to as "Our Hotel"). As a result, it has been confirmed that, as of July 1, 2024, some personal information of customers who booked their stay at our hotel through certain overseas online travel agencies for stays between June 30, 2024, and January 30, 2025, may have been accessed by unauthorized third parties.

While the details are still under investigation, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and concern this may cause our valued customers.

 

1. Background and Overview

On August 20, 2024, Japan time, Our Hotel received a report from the company operating the Management System that there was a suspicion of unauthorized operation of the system used by Our Hotel by a third party.

In response, Our Hotel immediately changed the login password for the Management System.

However, due to the unauthorized access, it is possible that some personal information of guests, as described in Section 2 below, registered in the Management System may have been viewed by a third party.

 

2. Potentially Viewed Guest Information

The following information may have been viewed by a third party from the guest information accessible through the Management System:

・Name
・Nationality
・Telephone number
・Reservation details (date of stay, number of rooms, number of guests, plan name, and room rate)
・Email address for guest communication

Note: The "Email address for guest communication" is a temporary email address used in the Management System to contact guests for security purposes. The email address that guests normally use may not have been viewed.

Note: As credit card information and physical addresses are not registered in the Management System, there is no possibility that such information was viewed.

 

3. Future Measures

We will strengthen our management system to prevent unauthorized access, in cooperation with the company operating the Management System, including restricting access IPs.
